Where AI fits in your industry.

A prompt you paste into Claude or ChatGPT. It interviews you about the tasks and workflows you repeat in the industry you've spent years in, counts what they actually cost, and shows you step by step where AI could help - and where it can't.

  1. Paste it in.Claude or ChatGPT, whichever you already use.
  2. Answer its questions, one at a time.Your industry, the tasks you do over and over, and how the three biggest ones actually run, step by step. Messy answers are fine - it asks a follow-up when it needs you to be more specific.
  3. Get your list. For each one: what it costs in hours a month, which steps AI could do today, which it can help with and which still need you. Then which one to start with, one small test for this week, and three drafts of your one-sentence position.

I spent about 10 years in analytics and data consulting, including as a head of analytics. Most of that job was counting where the time actually goes before deciding what to fix, so this prompt does that first.

The prompt

Copy all of it, paste it into Claude or ChatGPT, and answer its questions. Give yourself about 30 minutes, and I highly recommend turning on dictation (the microphone button in Claude or ChatGPT) so the brain dump is easier. Use real examples from your week, not what you think you should say - the more specific you are, the more useful the list at the end.

Pop your email in above and the whole prompt opens here.

I've spent years working in one industry and I want to find the repetitive tasks and workflows in it that AI could take off people's plates. Interview me first, then give me suggestions.

HOW TO RUN THIS
- Ask me one question at a time. Wait for my answer before the next one.
- Use my words when you play things back. Don't turn what I say into jargon.
- If an answer is vague (like "admin" or "reporting"), ask me one follow-up to get to the specific task.

THE QUESTIONS
1. What industry are you in, what's your role, and how long have you been in it?
2. Brain dump. Walk me through a normal week. List every task you do over and over again - daily, weekly or monthly - including the boring ones you don't think count. Messy is fine.
3. From my list, pick the 3 tasks that repeat the most or take the most time, and check with me that they're the right ones.
4. Take them one at a time. For each one, ask me:
   - What kicks it off (an email, a new client, the end of the month)
   - The steps, in order, and the tool or software I use for each
   - What I end up with and who it goes to
   - How often it happens and roughly how long it takes each time
   - Which part is the most annoying, or where it usually goes wrong
5. Do other people in my industry do these same tasks in roughly the same way? Who does them most?

BEFORE YOU SUGGEST ANYTHING
Play back each workflow as a short numbered list of steps and ask me to correct anything that's wrong. Wait for my reply.

THEN GIVE ME THIS
For each workflow:
- The workflow, in my words, as its steps
- What it costs: how often x minutes each, as hours a month. Show the maths and label it an estimate
- Step by step: which steps AI could do today, which it could help with (it drafts, I check), and which still need a person. Name the tool for each AI step, using tools that exist right now
- How hard it would be to try this week: easy, medium or hard

Then:
- Rank the workflows by hours a month and how easy they are to try, and tell me which one to start with
- Give me one small thing to test this week on that workflow, as exact steps I can follow, including the prompt I'd paste in
- Tell me which of these workflows other people in my industry have too, because that's where an AI business could come from
- Draft my one-sentence position 3 ways, in this format: "I help [who] use AI to [a result they'd pay for]"

RULES
- Be honest. If AI isn't a good fit for a step, say so.
- Only suggest things I could set up myself, without a developer.
- Don't promise time savings. Only estimate what the workflow costs now.
- Keep it plain. No buzzwords.
